Questions?

Curious about competing in military foodservice?

I want to sell my products in the military channel. Where do I start?

By understanding the rules that govern military buying. Products must meet strict standards, and timing often depends on bid requests, contract renewals, and existing specifications. CORE helps manufacturers focus on the products most likely to qualify instead of pushing portfolios that don’t fit military requirements.

Products must pass fair trade review, meet required nutrition standards, align with approved pricing, and comply with Buy American Act or Berry Amendment sourcing rules. They must also perform in high-volume environments and fit specifications outlined in the Army or Navy Buyer’s Guide.

What does the typical military selling process look like?

The process starts at a military installation. The Food Program Manager and prime vendor must align on the product. From there, the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) must grant final approval.

Once approved, the DLA assigns a stock number and lists the product in the National Allowance Pricing Agreement (NAPA) catalog, allowing authorized customers to purchase it across CONUS and OCONUS locations supporting the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Space Force, Coast Guard, and National Guard.

What coverage does the CORE military team provide?

CORE supports military foodservice across troop feeding and MWR (Morale, Welfare, Recreation) working with installations throughout CONUS and OCONUS. Our team covers every branch, including the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Space Force, Coast Guard, and National Guard.

In addition, our sister agency, Acosta, provides support at military retail locations, including DeCA commissaries, Exchange stores, Veterans Canteen Markets, and ship stores.
